These books highlight different articles from the UNCRC, helping to raise our pupils&#8217; awareness of their rights. The final book of the year is the graphic novel <span class=\"TextRun SCXW26918650 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW26918650 BCX0\"><em>When Stars Are Scattered<\/em> by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed. This incredible true story links to several of articles including: \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">28: Right to an education<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">27: Adequate standard of living<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">19: Protection from violence, abuse and neglect<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5854\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2025\/07\/08134114\/stars-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2025\/07\/08134114\/stars-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2025\/07\/08134114\/stars.jpg 296w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Eleven-year-old Omar lives with his little brother Hassan in Dadaab, a refugee camp in Kenya. They\u2019ve been there for seven years now, waiting for the civil war in Somalia to end so that they can go home to the family farm and try to find their parents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Life in the camp is hard: Omar has to look after Hassan, queue for water, queue for food. Dadaab feels like a giant waiting room, but Omar looks for hope around every corner.
