The Rights Respecting Schools Award<\/a><\/strong> recognises a school\u2019s achievement in embedding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in daily school life and beyond.<\/span> Putting these values into practice in school helps give pupils the best chance to lead happy, healthy lives and to be responsible, active citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of their work towards a gold award, Castlemilk High School library and Rights Respecting group promotes a themed book every month.\u00a0 Each book is chosen for content that highlights different UNCRC articles. This month\u2019s book is the classic \u2018David Copperfield’ <\/em>by Charles Dickens, which links to a number of articles including: <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

19: Protection from violence, abuse and neglect<\/span><\/p>\n

27: Adequate standard of living<\/span><\/p>\n

28: Right to an education<\/span><\/p>\n
