It&#8217;s been a busy last month of term, with exciting things this week like karaoke in the street dining area and staff quizzing in the library. <br \/><br \/>Our last great reading recommendation of this year is, &#8220;An Illustrated History of Urban Legends&#8221;\u00a0 by Adam Allsuch Boardman.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t worry, it&#8217;s an easy read compared to the very long title.\u00a0 A good, creepy read is almost the law at Christmas &#8211; and this book doesn&#8217;t let you down.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5416 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121144\/Lochend-Urban-Legends-Dec-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121144\/Lochend-Urban-Legends-Dec-226x300.jpg 226w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121144\/Lochend-Urban-Legends-Dec.jpg 241w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/> From ghosts to UFOs and Yetis, there is very little left out of this packed book which is lots of fun.\u00a0 Although big on graphics, there&#8217;s a lot of great detail about your favourite spooky stuff and I certainly learned loads reading it.\u00a0 For instance did you know that there was a rumour Elvis is still alive?\u00a0 Or that the Japanese ghost Ala Manto is said to haunt bathrooms?\u00a0 Dive in and enjoy this just after your Christmas Dinner !<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">If that isn&#8217;t to your taste, the library has a very varied selection of new arrivals for you to enjoy.\u00a0 Do you like Dungeons and Dragons or other types of Cosplay?\u00a0 Always wanted to know how Cosplayers do the make up for their amazing looks?\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5418 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121150\/Lochend-Cosplay-Dec-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121150\/Lochend-Cosplay-Dec-226x300.jpg 226w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121150\/Lochend-Cosplay-Dec.jpg 241w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/>Or simply want to take your make up skills to a different level?\u00a0 This book is for you.\u00a0 It is a step by step, no nonsense guide to come up with amazing looks to take your Cosplaying to the next level.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Last but not least, of course Boxing Day comes just after Christmas Day and for football fans, it&#8217;s a great day to watch lots of our favourite teams complete.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re not lucky enough to see a game this year, maybe this book will fill that gap for you.\u00a0 A shorter book, but packed full of football stars, meet, &#8220;Football GOATS, the Greatest Footballers of All Time&#8221;.\u00a0 \u00a0A wide reaching and all encompassing book, it covers worldwide women and men&#8217;s football and is a great read when you&#8217;re coming to the last of the Christmas chocolates. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5417 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121148\/Lochend-GOAT-Dec-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121148\/Lochend-GOAT-Dec-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/12\/20121148\/Lochend-GOAT-Dec.jpg 481w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Now shhh&#8230;as the library is deserted this morning, not even a mouse is stirring.\u00a0 But they will be during lunchbreak.\u00a0 From all of us at Lochend, have a peaceful Christmas and New Year and happy reading.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Good cheer to you all from Lochend as we prepare for the holiday season !
