meaning the library reverts to being a much quieter space than usual.\u00a0 But that doesn&#8217;t mean nothing is happening &#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>In the May bank holidays, Mrs Marshall enjoyed reading a couple of the Yoto Carnegie nominated titles and is looking forward to representing the Scottish Branch of the Youth Library Group at the Yoto Carnegie Award ceremony in June.\u00a0 Here are the reviews of 2 of the books in contention for the Award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Book Review &#8211; Steady for This\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>What a funny book with wonderful storylines.\u00a0 I loved it so much that I was laughing out loud when I was meant to be overseeing a study session in the library.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4440\" style=\"width: 236px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4440\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4440\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/05\/28095003\/Eastbank-Blog-May-24-Steady-for-this-P-226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/05\/28095003\/Eastbank-Blog-May-24-Steady-for-this-P-226x300.jpg 226w, https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/gccschoollibraries\/uploads\/sites\/10968\/2024\/05\/28095003\/Eastbank-Blog-May-24-Steady-for-this-P.jpg 241w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4440\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Steady for This<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">MC Growls is the main character who is trying his best to win a rap contest and get prize money to help his mum out.\u00a0 However, Growls does not have the &#8220;usual&#8221; style of rapping and some of his beats really leave the reader howling.\u00a0 He streams one of his practice sessions inadvertently which end up with his dirty laundry being exposed in public &#8211; literally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Although funny, the book tackles friendships, family struggles and the challenges faced by young carers in the main storyline.\u00a0 However this doesn&#8217;t take away from the humour, and isn&#8217;t a heavy read at all.\u00a0 Instead, you&#8217;ll be flying through the pages and chuckling away in no time !\u00a0 This copy is currently available to borrow in the school library.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Book Review &#8211;
