{"id":2290,"date":"2022-08-16T14:25:17","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T14:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/gccschoollibraries\/?p=2290"},"modified":"2022-08-16T14:26:32","modified_gmt":"2022-08-16T14:26:32","slug":"st-mungos-library-summer-round-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/gccschoollibraries\/2022\/08\/16\/st-mungos-library-summer-round-up\/","title":{"rendered":"St Mungo\u2019s library- Summer round-up!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The teachers and staff are back to school meanwhile, the librarian, never really left&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, I have spend most of the summer working in the library.<\/p>\n<p>You must wonder: &#8220;what did she do during this 7 weeks, alone in school, like an wandering ghost?&#8221; Well, rather than a ghost, I was more like a busy bee.<\/p>\n<p>The first weeks,<strong> I embraced the &#8220;dynamic shelving mode&#8221;<\/strong>. I placed all the books in facing display making the collection more appealing, accessible, navigable, fun, enjoyable for our readers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FWbWszhXwAIFwyf?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"459\" height=\"345\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FWbWudnXwAAK6f1?format=jpg&amp;name=large\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"457\" height=\"343\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>I created a <span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">&#8220;Shelf help&#8221;<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"><strong> section!<\/strong> Fiction &amp; NF books have been selected to help pupils overcome experiences, thoughts and feelings that can be overwhelming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYBUREHWIAE0Sl2?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>I designed and replaced all the library signage<\/strong>, to make it clearer, more inclusive and practical for our readers:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYhFdyqXkAYjX02?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYhFepvX0AI6cfD?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>I weeded the collection and recycled book jackets making space for new books:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYGTw-_WQAAjb9T?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>I received NEW STOCK (hooray!!) which means that I had to catalogue and displayed it:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYqnlhCWQAEAxDS?format=jpg&amp;name=large\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"381\" height=\"678\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYwcStDX0AIdOE4?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>I worked with my librarian colleagues on the &#8220;Well being for storytelling project&#8221;<\/b> involving mastering very complicated story base games (some of this games have a book rule of +20p!!)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FYMaAWRVQAE38IU?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>I followed online webinars and training:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FXjbIdVXwAYEjzx?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of the summer break, the library has been involved in the <strong>P7 transition programme, offering library activities to the future S1:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FZ4foTpXgAIC7YF?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And ultimately, <strong>I created 200+ library cards for the new S1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FZ4L6YPXwAAiOr3?format=jpg&amp;name=large\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A buzzzy \ud83d\udc1d indeed \ud83d\ude1c<\/p>\n<p>The library is super ready to rock this new school year!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The teachers and staff are back to school meanwhile, the librarian, never really left&#8230; Indeed, I have spend most of the summer working in the library.
