We published the results from our #ReadingSchools Library Survey and Book Personality Quiz that took place over January\/February. They can choose to read two fiction books per genre, one nonfiction book per subject, and\/or three \u2018chances\u2019 where they can either select a \u2018reading dare\u2019 or spin the Wheel of Genre. The completion of each genre\/subject\/chance grants them an entry into the monthly school library prize draw. This is to encourage pupils and staff to have a conversation about books and promoting literature via word of mouth. Each submissions earns an entry into the school library monthly prize draw and pupils who submit the most reviews per week earn a Reader of the Week certificate and ribbon.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Short Story competition<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">: The Short Story competition is the brainchild of two pupils (S2 + S6) who are members of our Pupil Library Committee, both of whom are part of the judging panel. We received fourteen-short stories across all yer groups. The pupil judges divided the stories into 2 groups, BGE and S4-Senior. Within those groups, they judged each story based on a set of criteria based on various short story competitions we researched around the Web. Pupils are given a sheet to complete their own fantasy football team (based on real players, past or present) and instructed to give the reasons why they\u2019ve been selected. This activity has also been promoted in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ShawlandsPe\/status\/1501249505316028424\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Physical Education department<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Members promoted the variety of World Book Day activities and reading challenges as well as selected books to display and promote for borrowing. Their suggestions will help inform the expansion of our \u2018Equality and Empowerment\u2019 section for next year as well as for the eBooks available on the Glasgow Libraries\u2019 Libby app, thus ensuring a pupil voice is represented in the selection.
