Read, Write, Count is a national campaign to help improve both the literacy and numeracy skills of our young learners.
To help achieve this, every child in primary 2-3 receives a free bag with books and activities to support their learning. In addition, the campaign provides advice and support for learning professionals and families via the Scottish Book Trust. Local authorities and professionals nation wide, will also collaborate and share ideas and identify ways in which the book’s contents can be utilised to help achieve the Scottish Government’s priority of increasing attainment and achievement for all.
Parental engagement and involvement in their child’s learning is a crucial factor in improving education outcomes and raising attainment for learners. The Read, Write, Count campaign aims to increase parent and carer confidence in supporting their child. They also aim to encourage families to work together to participate in easy and fun reading, writing and counting activities in their everyday lives.
