Measure Steve

Look at the page showing the estimated length of Steve and find classroom or outside objects of a similar size. Use vocabulary to describe these. E.g longer, shorter

Volume and capacity

Look around the classroom and/or the house. Use different containers, jars, pots etc to explore volume and capacity. Fill up some containers with water.  Which container has more or less water than another? Can you find the measurements on containers in the house? Look for ML (millilitres) and L (litres)

Patterns

Explore the book and see if you can find some patterns. What makes it a pattern? Look around your house, classroom and outdoors too. What patterns can you identify? Can you create your own pattern using different materials?

Dice Games

  • Roll your dice and add the two numbers together – Can you use an open number line to do this?

  • Roll your dice. If you roll a 2 and a 3 then your number could be 23 or 32. Partition your number to explore if further

  • Roll your dice and add the two numbers together. What numbers come before the total number? What number comes after?
