ASL Moderation Update
ASL Moderation in Glasgow
Following a successful moderation exercise on the February in-service day 2023, where ASL collocated units praised having the opportunity to work together in moderation and other areas, a clear need emerged for a modified paperwork to reflect the complex needs of many young people in our ASL establishments and the support in place for these pupils when they are being assessed.
Subsequently, a working group has been established in the city with QIOs, HTs & DHTs from the ASL sector and Shona McArthur from the West Partnership. They have been meeting to work on moderation paperwork and guidance to be used in ASL schools and this is currently being piloted. This includes modifications which are inclusive of milestones and foundation milestones as well as considering barriers to learning and how lessons and assessments will be differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils.
Staff training materials are now also being developed and will be available in due course.
Moderation trios have been identified in the ASL primary (stand-alone & collocated) and secondary (stand-alone) establishments in preparation for the February inset day 2024. We can’t wait to update you on their progress.
