{"id":357,"date":"2022-11-21T14:31:52","date_gmt":"2022-11-21T14:31:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/ealinsw\/?page_id=357"},"modified":"2022-11-28T09:11:21","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T09:11:21","slug":"stem-and-eal-success","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/ealinsw\/useful-websites\/stem-and-eal-success\/","title":{"rendered":"STEM and EAL = Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the UK Parliament&#8217;s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion in STEM there <span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">is evidence to suggest that women, certain ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and those from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds <\/span><strong><a style=\"font-size: 1rem\" href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/-\/media\/Royal_Society_Content\/policy\/projects\/leading-way-diversity\/picture-uk-scientific-workforce\/070314-diversity-report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">are underrepresented in education, training and employment related to STEM<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">Quoted by the <\/span>Committee<span style=\"font-size: 1rem\"> research shows that ethnic minority staff and students have consistently poorer outcomes than white staff and students.
