New setting, school system,\u00a0 language, food, weather, rules &#8230; the list goes on.<\/span>As adults working with EAL children and young people we can support t<span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">hem with some of those adjustments, Big and Small, and make the transition to living in Scotland a little bit smoother.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here we would like to sign-post you to some of the resources which might help you in<span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0supporting EAL children in your care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Welcome to Scotland &#8211; EIS packs\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eis.org.uk\/policy-and-publications\/welcometoscotland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EIS Welcome Packs <\/a><\/strong> come in a PDF format. The Welcome Packs are available for three age ranges (P1-P4, P5-S3 and S4-S6), and are designed to inform young people of their rights as pupils\/students in Scottish education. They convey a positive,<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-345 size-thumbnail alignright\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/ealinsw\/uploads\/sites\/11318\/2022\/11\/17121248\/IMG_2965-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0welcoming message to the young people about Scotland as their new home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"eistxt\">The booklets included in the packs aim to give newly arrived young people and their families some information about school education in Scotland, as well as some background about Scotland itself by way of introduction to the country. The &#8220;parent pack&#8221; is available in number of different home languages including : <strong>Arabic, Dari, English, French, Pashto, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian.<\/strong> These are also available as an <strong>AUDIO<\/strong> <strong>translation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@scotlandournewhome7087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scotland Our New Home<\/a> <\/strong>this series of documentaries is the result of a Creative Scotland-funded participatory filmmaking project with young refugees from the New Young Peers Scotland group (hosted by YPeople Charity) who wanted to make a film to support other new young arrivals in the process of making home in Scotland. https:\/\/youtu.be\/2_oHnoSULfE<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Scotland Our New Home\" width=\"625\" height=\"352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2_oHnoSULfE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Myths of Immigration<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; EIS Resource packs<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eis.org.uk\/anti-racism\/mythsofimmigration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Myths of Immigration Recourse Packs by EIS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These booklets come in a PDF format. These can be used to inform colleagues working with children and young people who are new arrivals to the country, on some of the key issues<\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.71429;margin-bottom: 1.71429rem\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-348 size-thumbnail\" style=\"margin-top: 0.857143rem;margin-bottom: 0.857143rem;margin-left: 1.71429rem\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/public\/ealinsw\/uploads\/sites\/11318\/2022\/11\/17121256\/IMG_2966-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0around the topic of immigration.
