{"id":1044,"date":"2022-10-10T12:42:51","date_gmt":"2022-10-10T12:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/crookstoncastle\/?page_id=1044"},"modified":"2022-10-11T12:45:41","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T12:45:41","slug":"helping-my-child-at-school","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/crookstoncastle\/parent-zone\/helping-my-child-at-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Helping My Child at School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 1.5rem\">Helping My Child at School<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Crookston Castle, there are many ways in which we can work together to help our children to feel safe and support them to attain and achieve.<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>We actively encourage and welcome engagement in the life of our school by;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coming along to open afternoons and assemblies<\/li>\n<li>Engaging with your child\u2019s seesaw<\/li>\n<li>Attending parental meetings and parents\u2019 evening<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We also encourage you to support your child in their learning by ensuring;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your child comes to school every day<\/li>\n<li>Your child is at school on time<\/li>\n<li>Your child comes appropriately dressed for school and ready to learn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><u><strong>Homework<\/strong><\/u><\/h2>\n<p>At Crookston Castle, we value homework because;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It helps develop an effective partnership between school and parents and other carers in pursuing the aims of the school<\/li>\n<li>It reinforces concepts, ideas and work habits learned at school<\/li>\n<li>It gives pupils a chance to practise skills they are acquiring at school in a different setting<\/li>\n<li>It offers pupils a chance to develop independent work habits<\/li>\n<li>It can be used to encourage pupils to seek information from alternative sources to those available in school \u2013 local libraries, or by interviewing adults<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Homework activities vary depending on stage, however all ages are encouraged to read each evening whether from school readers, novels, magazines, newspapers or reference books.<br \/>\nHomework activities will be assigned via seesaw on a weekly basis.
