Aim : | The course is aimed at teachers who currently lead, or plan to establish, a school tin whistle group, but is also suitable for teachers looking to deliver whole class lessons.
Aims: · To learn the basic notes of the tin whistle. · To learn some simple tunes that can be played with children alone and in groups. · To learn how to lead a group and play arrangements catering for different levels of ability. To develop general knowledge of the tin whistle and it’s history. |
Content: | During this series of three twilight sessions, two Create YMI tutors will lead participants in practical activities that will cover the following:
· History of the tin whistle. · First steps in playing the tin whistle. · Learning basic music notation and how to teach it. · Guidance on how to teach whistle, step by step. · Teaching the whistle to small groups or classes. · How to incorporate differentiation within a group setting. Plenary to look over any music or questions participants may have. |
