<\/p>\nTransitions to school is one of the many transitions children will make in their life from birth into adulthood. It is crucial at these times children are supported to make them as smooth as possible.\u00a0 Within Knightswood Learning Community, staff from Early Years settings and \u00a0Primary Schools come together to create a transition package that focuses on children’s learning at nursery and developing learning further within the initial stages of Primary. Both sectors work within the Early Level of Curriculum for Excellence, therefore the smooth move on from one to the other has huge potential.<\/p>\n
Please be assured that although this year everything changed due to the global pandemic, planning for transitions between Early Years and Primary School began back in late 2019 and has been ongoing ever since.<\/p>\n
Staff have continued to ensure that all the relevant information regarding our individual children, is passed on to the relevant staff within the primary schools.<\/p>\n

This year Knightswood Learning Community chose the ‘Handas Surprise’<\/strong> book as a context\u00a0for transitions\u00a0 to support the children\u2019s learning of values, beliefs and friendships with their peers at nursery in the hope that with these foundations in values\u00a0 would continue as they move to different schools within the community in which they live.<\/p>\n The thread of equality and friendship would be continued through careful planning at the crucial point of transitions.
