P5, P6 and P7 Go To “Go Yellow!”

On Wednesday the 31st of May P5, P6 and P7 went to go yellow for the day. They did a 5k walk at Bellahouston park to raise money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. They played in the park, hung about with the mascots and played at all the activities that they set up.

There were also some animals joining in the fun! There was a horse called Spencer who was a famous Clydesdale and a highland cow with its little baby. Spencer was a very proud horse, he had chestnut hair, and white feathers on his feet. He was there with his owner who was talking to all the children about how hard looking after horses were and the responsibility’s of looking after them. The highland cows were making funny noises. When we left we shouted “GOODBYE!” and the mother cow made a great big “MOOOOO” and everybody laughed.

Near the end of the day there was a mascot race with the winner being a blue bird, then a little while later there was a mascot dance off then the winner of that was Champ The Chimp then there was free time for people to go up on the stage to dance sadly when Cleeves was just about to go up we had to leave.

It was a great day and we all had lots of fun!!

World Book Day

All of the boys and girls put in so much effort dressing up as their favourite character.  Throughout the day the children took part in activities in their classrooms and then had the opportunity to take part in a ‘Where’s Wally’ scavenger hunt in the playground.  Here are some of the highlights.

Some children made diorama’s  with their families of their favourite scene from a book.

Mrs Macadam – Literacy for All

Mrs Macadam is Cleeves Primary Schools Challenge Leader of Learning (CLOL) and she says that Wednesdays are not the same anymore thanks to LOL (Leaders of Learning) and Literacy for All.  Teachers teaching teachers, to teach children and, help raise attainment in Glasgow.  Thank you to all LOL for revisiting good teaching strategies to help CLOL’s (challenge Leaders of Learning) help our schools raise attainment in Literacy; in particular reading.

Mrs Macadam will be sharing what she learns with all the staff at Cleeves.  Keep watching this space for updates.

The boys and girls enjoyed some very healthy and tasty soup this afternoon. The Health Committee were helping the ‘SNAG’ (Schools Nutrition Action Group) ladies to cut all the vegetables this morning. The vegetables came from our wonderful school community garden.

We look forward to some more tasty and nutritious goodies in the near future!

Attention parents/carers of P5-7 children – please look in your child’s bag for this letter!

Hillpark Secondary have invited all parents/carers of pupils in P5, P6 and P7 to attend an open evening on Wednesday 28th September at 6pm in Hillpark Secondary School. The open evening is an excellent opportunity to find out more about Hillpark and the activities your child will be working on with them throughout the year. Your child is welcome to attend with you.

In order to plan for groups and catering on the evening, it would be helpful if you could complete the tear-off slip below and return it to your child’s primary teacher as soon as possible.

Hillpark are looking forward to welcoming as many of you as possible!
