We started off the week with a wonderful treat – the boys and girls got their book bug bags home.
In maths this week the boys and girls have been learning all about money. They have enjoyed sorting coins up to the value of £1, counting and matching amounts of money and role playing with the tills.
In art this week the children were learning about the primary colours and then used this knowledge to create their own piece of Mondrian Art.
In Primary 1 this week we have been learning to add. The children have been using concrete materials to visually see the sum in front of them. Miss Pattison and Miss Fox have been very impressed.
The Children are making good progress with their rhyme and cvc words. They enjoy using magnetic letters, salt and whiteboards to make the words.
Primary 1 wore something spotty today and donated £1 to Children in Need – well done 👏🏻
They even made their own spotty biscuits, they looked very tasty 🍪
We started off the week with all the children being replaced by scary figures…..but not to panic they had all been returned by Tuesday.
The boys and girls started blending this week and we were so impressed with their knowledge of their sounds and how they applied them to blending to make words.
The boys and girls are so proud of their letter formation that they wanted everyone to see 👀. They circled the letter that they were most proud of.
STEM
Today we looked at our sense of taste. The children had to sort pictures and stick the ‘taste’ pictures on their giant tongues. They are getting excited about making their fruit kebabs where they will be using their knowledge of senses and repeat pattern. Watch this space!
Primary 3 welcome you to their blog page. We hope you enjoy our first post. Please leave us a comment!
This term Primary 3 have been developing their science and STEM skills through a range of activities linked to our topic ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.
The children weaved their own baskets and designed a pulley system just like in the story. have a look at our creations!
Mrs Ali posted a video of how we were able to design a pulley system to get the basket with yummy food across to Mr Grinling!
The children really are really engaging in the range of different learning opportunities happening in and out of the classroom. This week we have been focusing on number ordering, formation and being able to sort objects into sets. Here are some examples of the children hard at work.
Shape Hunt
We took advantage of the nicer afternoons this week and we went on a shape hunt. The children were looking for examples of 2d shapes in their environment.
