Attendance

School Attendance Policy and Procedures

If your child is going to be absent, this must be reported.  You can report the absence in the following ways:

  • Phone the Glasgow City Council absence line on 0141 287 0039 or 0141 471 3710
  • Phone the school office after 8.30am on 0141 880 5305

Latecoming

Children should arrive at school on time.  If your child is regularly late they miss valuable learning and teaching.  If your child is arriving late on a regular basis, a member of the Senior Leadership Team will invite you to a meeting to discuss what we can do to help.

School Attendance Policy and Procedure

If you do not make contact to report your child absent, the school office will contact you by text and/or telephone to discuss the reason for the absence.

If we are concerned about the level of absence, Ms Burnet (Headteacher) will arrange a meeting with you to understand the reasons behind this and offer support.

Section 30 of the 1980 Education Act lays a duty on every parent/carer of a child or young person of “school age” to ensure that their child attends school regularly.  Attendance must be recorded twice a day, morning and afternoon.

Parents/carers do not have an automatic right to take their child out of school without permission during term-time.  The Head of Establishment can authorise time off during term-time in exceptional circumstances.    Good attendance and time keeping impacts positively on pupil attainment and achievement.  Poor attendance and late coming has a detrimental effect on pupils learning.
