At Cadder Primary School, we offer a range of opportunities for learners to engage in experiences that develop skills in school. In turn, this promotes confidence to work with other children and develop their resilience and capacity to deal with challenges in and out of school.
Some children may need a little extra help to settle into school as they prepare to learn in their new environment. Our Nurture Room (The Rainbow Room) is a welcoming and calm place which helps children feel settled and enables them to do their best in school.
At Cadder Primary School, Miss Wilson (Nurture Teacher) and Ms Sutherland (Nurture Support Assistant) provide fulfilling experiences that reflect the principles of nurture.
The Rainbow Room provides a learning environment for a small group of 4-6 children from Primary 1 to Primary 3. The children remain part of their class group but spend every morning in the Rainbow Room. Miss Wilson and Ms Sutherland support the children by building their confidence and developing their social skills that help them to thrive in the classroom. All of the activities, practices and routines followed in the Rainbow Room are planned to meet the individual needs of the children.
Children from Primary 4 to Primary 7 may be invited to visit the nurture room during the afternoons.
One of the key aspects of the nurture approach is that parents and staff work closely, together. If you have any questions or queries at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.
