{"id":103,"date":"2017-02-04T18:31:16","date_gmt":"2017-02-04T18:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/ashparkprimaryschool\/?page_id=103"},"modified":"2024-09-16T14:32:57","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T13:32:57","slug":"additional-support-needs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/ashparkprimaryschool\/our-school\/additional-support-needs\/","title":{"rendered":"Additional Support Needs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Learning Support<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At various times in the child\u2019s career in the school, he\/she may encounter some minor difficulty or problem.\u00a0 In such cases it is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to provide appropriate support.<\/p>\n<p>On other occasions a child may be experiencing difficulties that are more long term.<\/p>\n<p>In the first instance the class teacher will plan a suitable programme to meet the individual needs, and where staffing arrangements permit, extra support will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>Glasgow City Council Education Department provide a teacher from \u2018Network Support\u2019. The time allocation to the school is variable and consequently the remit within the school alters to take account of the changing circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>At all times close co-operation between parents and teachers is essential and the school will consult with parents to discuss any proposed plan of action.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The responsibility for managing Learning Support is undertaken by the Depute Head Teachers (Mr Fleming P1-3 and Mrs McWilliam P4-7):<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Maintain a register of children requiring Learning Support.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Monitor each individual\u2019s progress.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Update resources \u2013 support class teachers in the choice of suitable material.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Consult with parents.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Liaise with outside agencies.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Give direct support to individuals\/groups within or out with the class situation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In some situations the school seeks advice from a council supplied Educational Psychologist in order to identify and remediate particular barriers to learning.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Learning Support At various times in the child\u2019s career in the school, he\/she may encounter some minor difficulty or problem.\u00a0 In such cases it is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to provide appropriate support.
