School Committees

Pupil voice is a really important part of the life of Ashpark Primary School. We actively promote pupils to participate in the leadership of the school through being a member of a school committee. At Ashpark, we have the following school committees:

  • Eco-Committee – The Eco-Committee work throughout the year to achieve and maintain our Eco flag. This involves setting a wide range of targets such as reducing food waste, caring and maintaining our school ground and promoting the reduce, reuse, recycle values.
  • Digital Learners – This group has the important job of promoting digital learning across the school. The children in this group help to organise and maintain our digital resources as well as supporting other pupils in using them.
  • Sports Committee – Our Sports Committee help to promote a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of exercise and participating in sporting activities. Throughout the year, they offer special events such as the Santa dash obstacle course and out Sports Day.
  • SNAG – The School Nutrition Action Group also help to promote a healthy lifestyle through our diet. The SNAG have attended tasting session to try out new fruit and vegetables that could be added to the lunch menu and have carried out a healthy eating poster campaign.
  • Rights Respecting School Committee – This year, our RRS committee has successfully gained the Bronze award in this area and we have already begun the process to achieve the Silver award. They have managed this by engaging with the UNCRC articles and promoting our school values of Healthy, Hard Working, Caring and Kind.
  • Outdoor Learning Committee – This committee works closely with the Eco-Committee in caring and maintaining the school grounds. The pupils also share their ideas on how we can make our school grounds more accessible for learning and play.
  • Young Schools Forum – A group of 3 P6 children in our school attend the Young Schools Forum. This involves them sharing their views on current affairs in education and how best to develop earning in Glasgow.
  • Young Leaders of Learning – The YLOL team at Ashpark are involved in developing the Visions, Values and Aims at Ashpark. We are paired with another school in Glasgow and will complete reciprocal visits and share good practice with each other.
  • Pupil Council – The pupil council help Ashpark in a wide variety of ways. They are part of our pupil voice development and lead many initiatives. They are keenly involved in our fundraising and enterprise within the school.
  • Enterprise Group – The enterprise group run a very successful stationery shop. Upper school pupils manage the running and budgeting of this. The money raised is used to run raffles and make donations to charities and the school.
