Over the past 6 years Active Schools has worked in partnership with Clyde College (Cardonald Campus). We have a number of programmes with various students but the main one is our Thursday afternoon programme. Basically we have 65 students from three courses (NQ Sport, NQ Fitness and HNC Coaching) involved with 24 schools in the South West of Glasgow.
The students are in groups of 2-3 and they take a curriculum session from 2-3pm and then an after school club. It is a win-win situation for the students who get the experience of putting into practise what they are learning and for the schools who have some keen young people in their school as good role models.
The year is split into four blocks of 4-5 weeks. The first block started on Thursday 22nd October 2015 and the students are teaching Badminton.
In the Rosshall Learning Community we have students in all five Primary Schools (Cardonald, Craigton, Crookston Castle, Hillington and Sandwood).
From the pupils who attend the Badminton After School club the students will pick 8 pupils (4 girls and 4 boys) to represent their school in a Badminton Tournament to be held at Rosshall Academy on Thursday 26th November 2015.
