{"id":2865,"date":"2015-10-19T15:29:39","date_gmt":"2015-10-19T14:29:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/LourdesSecondarySchool\/?p=2865"},"modified":"2015-10-21T11:12:42","modified_gmt":"2015-10-21T10:12:42","slug":"school-transport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/LourdesSecondarySchool\/2015\/10\/19\/school-transport\/","title":{"rendered":"School Transport &#8211; Message from Glasgow City Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.st-mariagoretti-pri.glasgow.sch.uk\/Websites\/SchPriStMariaGoretti\/NewsImages\/7c3d9540-a395-40dc-8a98-3307833ac841.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"208\" \/>Dear Parent\/Carer,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">We wrote to you recently to inform you that the council\u2019s administration was planning on reinstating the original distance eligibility for families to claim free school transport for their children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Yesterday, Thursday 8 October at the Executive Committee, elected members formally agreed to the criteria reverting back to 1.2 miles for primary pupils and 2.2 miles for secondary pupils.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Their decision has been taken following a cost of the school day project carried out across the city and to try to reduce some financial pressures on some families that could impact on a child\u2019s access to learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">This means that families of all children in P1 \u2013P7 in primary schools and S1 \u2013 S6 pupils in secondary schools who live these distances and more\u00a0 from their catchment schools will now be eligible for free transport to and from their school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Council officers have been working with <span style=\"color: #000000\">our colleagues in SPT to tender and secure travel and bus arrangements and it is anticipated that these will all be in place for pupils by Monday 2 November.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Council officers have also begun identifying the new P1 and S1 pupils who will now quality for free home school transport and will work with schools to contact these new families and help them register.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">We will continue to keep pupils and their families updated with information on timescales and details of the new transport arrangements over the coming weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parent\/Carer, We wrote to you recently to inform you that the council\u2019s administration was planning on reinstating the original distance eligibility for families to claim free school transport for their children.
