{"id":4016,"date":"2018-11-19T21:47:18","date_gmt":"2018-11-19T20:47:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/LourdesSecondarySchool\/?page_id=4016"},"modified":"2024-01-16T20:57:33","modified_gmt":"2024-01-16T19:57:33","slug":"senior-school","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/gc\/LourdesSecondarySchool\/subjects\/physical-education\/senior-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Senior School"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Senior School<\/h1>\n<h3>National 4 and 5 Physical Education<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pupils will learn to improve the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical) through various approaches after gathering data on their own performances<\/li>\n<li>This course does not have an external examination<\/li>\n<li>The pupils complete a Portfolio which is worth 50% of your overall mark<\/li>\n<li>Performance also makes up 50% of your overall mark and will be on 2 activities<\/li>\n<li>This course is highly recommended if a pupil would like to choose Higher PE in S5\/6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Higher Physical Education<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pupils will learn to improve the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical) through various approaches after gathering data on their own performances<\/li>\n<li>Pupils required to have National 5 PE, and preferably National 5 English<\/li>\n<li>SQA course with a written examination worth 50% of your overall mark<\/li>\n<li>A further 50% is currently internally marked, with each pupil being practically assessed on 2 different sporting activities<\/li>\n<li>The written element of the course is substantial with examples on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.understandingstandards.ork.uk\/\">understandingstandards.ork.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Advanced Higher Physical Education<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pupils will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the cycle of analysis in an activity of their choice and one of the 4 factors (mental, emotional, social and physical)<\/li>\n<li>As well as being supported through the course, candidates will have to demonstrate the ability to work, study and research independently<\/li>\n<li>Pupils required to have Higher PE, and preferably Higher English<\/li>\n<li>SQA course involving a 5,000 word project worth 70% of your overall mark<\/li>\n<li>A further 30% is currently internally marked, with each pupil being practically assessed on one sporting activity<\/li>\n<li>The written element of the course is substantial with examples on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.understandingstandards.ork.uk\/\">understandingstandards.ork.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sport &amp;
