Children’s Rights by Umar, Ibrahim, Ismaeel and Zayan.

As part of our learning, we have been looking at Children’s Rights.  We focused on 4 categories and these are 4 things that children should have.  The categories are survival, protection, development and participation.

We used our research skills to find out more about the 4 categories and watched video clips to get more information.  Using a search engine like Google helped us get more information and we used key words to make sure we got the correct information.

For this task, we worked in groups and created an information poster for each of the categories.  Some groups added in illustrations and visuals into their poster which was  good.  Our skills in working with others have improved in some ways but sometimes people just let other people do all the work.

The final part of this task was to present our findings to the rest of the class.  Each group stood up and spoke to the class, telling them what they had learned.  We had to organise ourselves as a group and decide who was saying which part.  We had to speak loud and clear so that our audience could hear what we were saying and learn from what we were saying.

My favourite part of the task was using a search engine to research Children’s Rights.  This was my favourite part because I like researching and using the internet.

Fun Friday at the Park with Class 2 by Noor Fatima, Hikmah, Noah and Ryan

We walked to Maxwell Park on Friday and met our friends in Class 2 there.

When we arrived at the park, the first thing we did was play rounders, football and basketball.  It was good because there is lots of space for us to play and lots of cute dogs to look at.

After a few games, we sat down and chilled while having some snacks – crisps and sweets!  YUM YUM!

Last but not least, we went to the play park and had so much fun.  We went crazy on the roundabout, climbed on the climbing frame, flew through the air on the swings and had a fabulous time on the seesaw.  I think the sugar had kicked in!!

We like going to the park because there is a lot of fun stuff to do, we can play with all of our friends, the fresh air gives us lots of energy and it is amazing to be there on a sunny day (which you don’t get a lot of in Glasgow)!

Out to Play Eco Drama by Fatima M, Simmal and Kerrimarie.

Today we had our second session with Sophie from Out to Play which is an Eco Drama organisation.

We have been working with Class 2 to learn drama in the outdoors.  It has been fun to work with Class 2 because we have been able to bond with them and share our ideas and stories with each other.  We are building up trust between us all and learning how to work with others.

Firstly, we took a few minutes to appreciate nature and were looking at the clouds.  We then described what they looked like and drew the clouds on the ground with chalk.  It was kind of hard to draw with chalk but it was fun to get messy.  Here are some of our drawings –

After this, we went to the outdoor classroom and did some improvisation drama.  We all had the chance to act out a story which was based in Kazakhstan.  The story started with 2 farmers who were friends and they found a treasure chest.   The friends decided to share but they didn’t know what to do so they asked the opinion of villagers, students and an old wise man.  The story had a happy ending and we all had fun making up actions, facial expressions and acting out the words of the story.  Check out this AMAZING acting!!

Today we learned about the beauty of birds, clouds and nature.  We were able to express our feelings through the drama and show how we felt without actually saying any words.  We liked being able to improvise and get into character.
