Our sustainable week

This week was full of excitement as we went on our first class trip, made our first radio advert and cooked vegetable soup with Mrs Brightman.

On Tuesday, we ventured out in the rain to the New Victoria Gardens  and the Hidden Gardens.  Although it was raining, we had a great day, as we got split into groups to see how many different types of fruit and vegetables we could see.  We also got the opportunity to plant peas and eat freshly grown apples and flowers ( yes, real flowers) from the allotments. Also Aliza Ahmad met the mother of a  famous youtuber, she was called Shazia. Shazia’s daughter Iman has over 2 million subscribers on youtube!

On Wednesday we learned how to record our own adverts. This was exciting as we got to talk into the large microphone. Our adverts were promoting crazy inventions, some that we wish were real!!

On Thursday we used our cooking skills to make vegetable soup. This involved us cutting vegetables using a knife. We also cut different types of fruit and vegetables. From this we took the seeds and planted them in the hope of growing our own fruit and vegetables in the class. Children who were not helping to prepare the fruit and veg,  were working out the food miles of all food items or painting fruit and vegetables using water colours.
