Monday 4th May 2020

Good morning everyone, I really hope you had a nice weekend? As always, I’m really looking forward to seeing your news pictures as they come in from your parents. I will make sure to share these photographs in a blog post later today so you can keep up with your friends and see what they’ve been up to.

On Saturday it should have been lovely Miss Bull’s wedding day. Unfortunately this had to be cancelled due to the current situation. The staff made a video for her to send her good wishes on what would have been her special day. You will spot lots of familiar faces… enjoy!

Here’s some suggested activities for today, remember if preferred you can also complete a piece of work from your at home learning pack kindly delivered by Mr Kedilty last week.

Do what works for you.

Weekend News Writing

In class 1 we print off the pictures from our weekend and share them with our friends.

Then we tell an adult what we’d like to write to accompany the picture, this can be single words or sentences depending on each individual.

Could you do this in one of your jotters? If you don’t have a printer you could draw a picture of something you did instead. Remember it will really help some of us if you dot our words for us to trace like below…

Please remember to send your photos and sentences to me so I can share with everyone later today.

10.00-10.30: If you have time you could also check out Newsround to learn more about what is going on in the world around us.

10:30-11:15: Break Time

11:15-12:15: Maths

Today I suggest we use the Topmarks website to revise some of our key maths learning this year including addition and money. Below are the suggested games, again ask an adult to help you choose the game that’s best suited to you at the right level of challenge.

Before you start your revision games you could click on this link to BBC Bitesize and watch some of the teaching clips on money to remind you of what we learned.

Now try these games;

12:15-1pm: Lunch

1-1.30 pm: Fine Motor Skills

One of the really important aspects of our daily school life is play. These play based experiences help us make sense of the world around us and also assist in our development of fine and gross motor skills which impacts on our cognitive activity and even our pencil grip etc.

I have attached a suggested activity you could try at home to help develop these skills.

1.30-2.30pm: Gym

Let’s get moving… you can choose one of the videos below to follow in your living room or bedroom the first video is a dancing tutorial from the website Go Noodle.

Enjoy learning the fun dance! I know if we were in class Mari would be showing everyone else up with her dance moves!

If you fancy something a bit slower and more relaxed you could try out this new Cosmic Kids Yoga video…

2-2:30pm: Break Time

2:30-3pm: Story and chat

At the end of each day, we will send you stories to listen to/read. Some of these will be read by your lovely St. Albert’s teachers, others might be by famous authors. To get ready for the story:

  • Get a snack and a drink
  • Get somewhere comfy – on cushions/sofa/bed, under a blanket
  • Get one of your parents or a brother/sister to listen with you

Here are today’s stories:

Miss Bull has been kind enough to share a video all about her class’s Spring topic… it’s a fantastic book with some beautiful images in there. Enjoy listening to her narration.
