Class 2 2018-2019

A record of our learning journey this year :)

Did we have a holiday?!

We have been very busy and right back into all our work after the 4 day break of September weekend.

In maths we have been using our knowledge of place value to revise adding and taking away tens and units (no carrying/exchanging). We remembered loads of our work on this really well so moved on to learning about exchanging 10 units for 1 ten and carrying it across columns which is more tricky but we did a great job with this. Kayden was the first one of us to finish an example sum correctly laid out on his whiteboard so he had a turn being the teacher explaining it to the rest of the class – well done Kayden!

In our topic work we completed our chocolate bar wrapper designs using Powerpoint to insert shapes, pictures and text. We all formatted our shapes to change the colours and some of us learned how to change the line colour and width to make a border.

Mrs Crosbie found some raw cacao power when she was shopping over the September weekend, which she very kindly brought in for us to try. It looks like cocoa but tasted very bitter! It made some of us cough the taste was so strong!

In P.E with P6/7 we continued to build our tennis skills developing our throwing and catching with a tennis ball and moving to catch a moving ball ready for when we get the rackets next week.

It was very wet on Wednesday when we went to Linn Park so we burned off our energy in the soft play room when we arrived. It was still raining after lunch but we went out for some fresh air and outdoor exercise too 🙂

Next week is outdoor learning week so make sure you bring a jacket that will keep you warm and wellies if it is very wet as we will be outside each day!

Happy weekend 🙂
