A record of our learning journey this year :)

Another busy week in Class 2!

Our P7 pupils have been on some exciting adventures this week with Tylor attending the residential P7 trip in Abernethy and Isaac participating in the alternative P7 activities. They have both been having a great time!

Back in class we have been busy working away on lots of interesting things!

During our writing we are looking again at connectives to improve our writing. We learned about some new connecting words and when we use them and created some sentences of our own. We have continued with our focus on questions in our reading work and are answering questions abut the text to show understanding as well as creating questions of our own.

In maths we started our next focus and are learning about money. This week we have practised lots of different skills – recognising coins, ordering coins, totalling coins, selecting coins to pay, converting pence to pounds.

After our Class Assembly we have returned to our learning about different aspects of life in Harris and this week have been looking at peat cutting. Peat is basically mud that is cut from the ground and dried and then used to burn on fires like coal. We looked at pictures and videos of Miss Hewitt cutting peats with a traditional peat iron back home in Harris and then created instructions abut the different steps of peat cutting.

On Thursday for karate we were practising our hits and kicks with a new piece of equipment. We started doing some elbow punches too.

Today is International Women’s Day and we have been talking about women who are special to us and why. Make sure and be extra nice to all the lovely ladies in your life today! 🙂

Happy weekend!
