There has been lots going on over the last couple of weeks, here is a short summary of what we have been working on.
In maths we have been learning about multiplication. Using we cubes we learned about the concept of multiplying making groups of numbers. We have been building our 10, 5 and 2 times tables by using repeated addition and using what we know about counting in steps of these numbers.
Issac was our multiplication superstar this week, answering his questions super fast! He wore the superstar lanyard to tell everyone about his great work.
During literacy we have continued learning about punctuation looking some more at commas and then at apostrophes and how these are used in contractions. We have continued with our fiction reading and are working hard on answering questions on the text.
In our PATHS lessons we have continued investigating the feeling anger and have been thinking about what behaviours are OK and not OK when we are feeling angry. We also thought about things we feel on the inside when angry and what shows on the outside. The class have then been working on some fantastic drawing of ‘Anger – what it means to me’.
We have continued with our learning about Harris, comparing life in this small island to life in the city of Glasgow. We have started investigating the different wildlife that can be found on Harris and will be completing some art related to this next week. Along with learning our Gaelic song for assembly we have also started learning some conversational phrases. Our accents are really great and improving all the time!
Last Friday we went to a Celtic Connections concert to listen to some traditional Scottish folk music. We also heard some Basque folk music from Spanish musicians. The children loved the concert, especially when thy were encouraged to join in loudly!
In PE with P6/7 we have been working on different jumps in gymnastics, using the benches and mats.
We have also been continuing building our karate skills with David.
Hope you have a lovely restful weekend 🙂
