This week we have been joined in Class 2, in the mornings, by Bilal. He has settled in so well to our class and has been working very hard this week on his literacy and numeracy.
He has been doing lots of phonics work – reading, blending, segmenting and spelling 3 and 4 letter words.
He has also been doing lots of number work in maths, revising numbers to 20, then 100 and then counting past 100 in numbers up to 1000. He has also been counting in tens with his new classmates and doing work on tens and units understanding how numbers are made.
On Wednesday we went to Linn Park and Bilal loved his first visit there, exploring the outdoor and indoor spaces and burning off lots of energy!
The rest of Class 2 have been busy working hard in the afternoons as well –
In art, we completed our macaw collage pictures and they look fab!
We have started our new topic learning about the Romans. First we have been learning about who the Romans were and why they are an important part of history. Here is our mindmap about what we have learned so far and remembered from our introduction lesson earlier this week.
After our introduction we completed a KWL grid and decided what we want to learn more about in topic. Miss Hewitt will get investigating and make us some lessons about all the things in the second column!
In our P.E lessons with P6/7 we continued developing our tennis skills, practising volley shots and working in partners both with bats to see if we could return shots.
Last night Subhan and Bilal attended the Wee Sleep Out in the school to raise awareness and money for homeless people. Great job Bilal and Subhan! They were still full of plenty energy when I cam in to help with breakfast this morning! If you would like to donate to this worthy cause please do so using the link below.
