Last day!

We celebrated our last day in Class 2 on Friday with our P7’s, as they were going to be off this week celebrating Eid. It was very emotional saying goodbye but we wished them good luck in Secondary school 🙂

Today we were a tiny class of 3 – Tylor, Lana and Miss Hewitt!

Happy summer holidays to everyone 🙂

Flashback to P1/2/3!

While things are being sorted out in classes before the holiday, a copy of ‘Get fit!’ was found. This was a video made when we first came to St Albert’s on Primary 1, 2 and 3.

We loved watching the video and laughed a lot so wanted to share some pictures of it with you!

A tiger came to tea!

Today was the last swimming lesson of the school year, for those of us who remembered our swimming kit!

We spent the rest of the morning learning lots of Gaelic words, including greetings and different foods. We wanted to know words that would be coming up in the Gaelic play of ‘A tiger came to tea‘ that we went to watch in Glendale Primary this afternoon.

Being a good audience

The play was fantastic with great confident actors and excellent singing and dancing! We spotted different words in Gaelic throughout the play and followed the story really well with the help of the actions and gestures.

Unit family picnic

Today we had some fun in the sun at a picnic with Class 1 and our families.

We played games, ate some lovely food which had been made or brought in by both classes and played with helium balloons which Miss Hunter organised as a special treat! It was a great afternoon 🙂

Holidays are coming!

This week will be Azeem, Saniyah and Gabriel’s last week as pupils in St Alberts 🙁  Their last full week of term is set to be a very busy one, and it got off to a great start today!

This morning we all celebrated our fabulous P7 pupils at their Leaver’s Assembly. They sang songs, performed various talents and we saw pictures and videos of some of their St A’s highlights.

Work, work, work!

Over the last couple of weeks we have been doing some work on jobs and today the school celebrated a World of Work Day.

We brainstormed different jobs we could think of and here are a few of them.

Our jobs mind-map

We did homework researching jobs we are interested in doing, or jobs someone in our families do, and then taught the others in our class about these jobs.

Some results from our homework

We also prepared for our guests today by noting down some questions we wanted to find out about different occupations like the ones below.

Today there were lots of activities in school about different jobs. Here we are in the carousel, going round each stall learning about various jobs.

Speaking to the Police officers and trying out their handcuffs!

Learning about being a scientist and trying out the safety goggles!

Listening to different career options

We had lots of guest speaker sessions and heard from a dentist, a lawyer and some university staff about a variety of jobs.

Question an answer session with our dentist visitor

We now have lots of different ideas about what we might do for work when we are older and know that whatever we choose we must keep working hard at school! 🙂

Improvements in writing

Today in class we looked at our writing over the year and discussed the different ways it has improved.

Some people have made their writing so much neater and easier to read while others have made their writing better by writing more and adding more openers and connectives to their writing. Others who needed lots of adult support to write can now write sentences independently.

We are all different BUT one thing is the same – we are all much better at writing than we were at the start of the year 🙂

Take a look at our before and after pictures and see what you think!
