This term we are exploring creative writing. We have been learning how to create a character description, describe a scene and how to start our writing to engage our reader.
We have also looked at remembrance poetry, and the different poetry styles, and creating our own poems. |
Numeracy

This term we have been learning about graphs and charts. We have been learning how to collect and collate data and how to present our data in a variety of formats. We have also been learning how to interpret each graph.
We have been learning about angles, the different types of angle, how to use a protractor to measure and create angles and how to calculate a missing angle in a triangle. |
Topic

Harry Potter is our class novel and we have used this as a stimulus for a character study, a whole class piece of art, creating a light up wand, and we will be creating spells and incantations.
Space has been our class topic and we have explored our solar system, the colours and temperatures of planets, meteors, the moon and tide patterns, and constellations, |
Health and Wellbeing

This term we are covering sex-ed topics, how to keep ourselves safe, and internet safety.
We are using the emotion works programme to better understand our emotions and how to regulate them. We have been taking part in the Active Schools virtual athletics festival. |
Science |
We have been learning about electrical circuits and energy sources. We have been learning about clean and dirty energy and the impacts of both on the environment. |
Other information |
We have begun a John Muir Award this term, which will continue until Easter.
We are continuing with a Natural Connections Awards. For both awards we have been spending time in Warout Woods and taken part in a trip to Methil and Leven to take part in renewables activities and beachcraft. We have developed an enterprise project to create a zero waste Christmas cookbook. We will be cooking recipes once a week, and developing artwork and written recipes for the book. |
