Class Learning

SUBJECT AREA AREAS TO BE COVERED

Literacy

Primary 1’s have continued with their Jolly Phonics learning and are hoping to complete phase 4 by the end of term.

They have been working hard on correct formation of letters and are using their sounds knowledge to blend and read words.

Primary 2’s have continued to revise initial phonics sounds and have been learning new blends which are more complex. They have also been working very hard at writing sentences independently by sharing weekend news and writing instructions for simple tasks.

Numeracy

Primary 1’s have been learning numbers up to 10, focusing on correct formation, sequencing, and addition and subtraction.

Primary 2’s have been focusing on place value within 30, number bonds within 10, relationships between addition and subtraction and skip counting.

As a whole class we have had fun exploring 2D and 3D shapes.  We have been building models and investigating shapes in our environment.

Topic

Minibeasts

Health and Wellbeing

We have had lots of discussions on how to be a good friend and the importance of having lots of friends.

Our topic has been minibeasts there fore we have been exploring our environment to find minibeasts.  We have looked at the body parts of different creatures, and the key points to distinguish an insect.  We are also looking at the importance of minibeasts and the relationship they have with plants.
