Higher Chemistry

The Higher Chemistry course is designed to equip pupils with the knowledge so they can understand Chemistry within a lab and industrial setting. Pupils will develop concepts and skills required to develop new products and work out how they can be manufactured.
In the first unit pupils will learn about bonding and intermolecular forces. In the second, key families of compounds will be highlighted in order to show how Chemists can design and develop new compounds. Finally in the third unit pupils will learn how to take an idea for a product from the lab into commercial production.
At Waid Academy we begin with unit 3 in order to allow all our learners time to develop the necessary numeracy skills in order to achieve success.
