Remote Learning Feedback Survey

What you said? What we did?

Screen time Concerns

Some were concerned about the amount of time pupils were spending constantly online.

·         Teachers will still follow the school timetable but from Monday, all lessons will  last 40 minutes instead of 50.

·         This will allow a ten minute off screen break between classes

·         We would encourage you to step away from the computer and have a break between these sessions online and also to ensure you have a proper break from the screen at break and lunchtime

·         Some N5, H and AH classes may run for 50 minutes if there is teaching happening to ensure coverage of the content

·         A new blank timetable is included with this email for you to print out and use to write on – you can write when live/audio/video lessons will occur and when work periods will be set.

·         This timetable is also available on the website at this address and a pile of printed sheets are available on our new resource desk at the front of the school

Structure of Lessons and Workload

Some were concerned about workload and when work should be completed (either in class time or as homework)

·         Teachers will try their best to plan the week and communicate with pupils about what the structure of the week will look like

·         In other words, when will audio/video/recorded teaching occur and when will tasks be done

·         Tasks will continue to be issued through Assignments in Glow

·         Time will be built in for these the be completed during class time, as they would if they were in school, with the teacher online to answer questions if someone is stuck

A learner might get through the work really quickly and that is ok

Resources

Some of you wanted to know about getting access to paper and jotters

·         We have placed a resources table, filled with jotters, paper, pencils, pens etc and now blank timetables at the pupil entrance of the school.

·         You are free to come up and help yourself to anything you need

·         Please remember to wear your face mask when you enter

Deadlines and Completing Work

Some of you were concerned about workload and meeting deadlines

·         Teachers will now build in time to the periods for work to be completed just as learners would complete work in class time in school

·         If for any reason, you have difficulty in meeting deadlines or are struggling with work then please communicate with the teacher

·         We all understand this is a really difficult time for everyone and we will be flexible to support you during this time

The use of the timetable

The majority of you were in favour of following the school timetable

·         We will continue to use the timetable as a structure for remote learning

·         This helps everyone understand what should happen and when

·         We understand that this is not ideal for everyone and please know we will be flexible to support you in any way we can – just get in touch and let us know if there are any problems
