Meet the Team

Transforming Learning is being supported by a team of educators in Fife, all of whom are passionate about using digital to enhance learning, teaching and assessment. 

Name: Craig Martin

Role: Quality Improvement Officer for Transforming Learning

Favourite digital tool: Quizzes – allows the gamifcation of questioning. No one likes a test, but turn it into a game where you compete and all the class goes wild. 

‘It is an honour to lead the transforming learning fife team, the opportunity to make a difference to all of Fife’s children and every teacher is incredible. The whole team are driven by the desire to make this programme a success and ultimately Transform teaching in Fife and improve outcomes for our kids’

Craig is relatively new to education having worked in local government, academia and the chemical industry previously. Craig taught chemistry at St. Columba’s in Dunfermline for 5 years. While there his passion for digital teaching enabled whole school improvements including running the successful 1:1 devices pilot

Name: Hannah MacGregor

Role: Transforming Learning Project Manager

Favourite digital tool: OneNote

Hannah has used digital technology to inspire and support learners since 2009, first in a mobile classroom which toured Scotland and Northern England and then in her primary school classroom.

Hannah is excited to be a part of the Transforming Learning Team helping to lead a programme that will impact learners throughout Fife and help her teaching colleagues to provide innovative learning experiences in their own classrooms. 

Name: Derek Rolland

Role: Education Support Officer for Digital Literacy

Favourite digital tool: Glow

Derek has taught with Fife Council since 2002 and in that time he has been involved in many changes in technology and the pedagogies of their use, including the creation and development of the Fife Digital Pathways.  For the past 7 years he has been involved in delivering professional learning to staff across the authority.

The Transforming Learning project represents the culmination of these many changes and Derek is keen to see Fife continue to embrace digital innovations to enhance experiences for all.

Name: Gemma Sanderson

Role: Education Support Officer for Digital Learning

Favourite digital tool: Keynote

Gemma has taught in primary schools for 10 years and has always had a passion for using digital. She taught in one of the first schools in Scotland to receive the Digital Schools Award and took her school First Lego League Team to the UK Finals in Bristol. With this passion for digital, Gemma has been supporting schools across Fife for the past 3 years in her role and manages the Fife Apple Regional Training Centre to deliver professional learning for iPads.

Gemma is looking forward to supporting schools with Transforming Learning and putting her Apple Professional Learning Specialist training into practice across Fife.
