Safety and Wellbeing

Keeping all our children and young people safe online is paramount.

The devices are securely managed using Mobile Device Management software. This means that the devices can be securely monitored and only the apps and settings required for learning can be used on the device. Children and young people will also only have access to apps that have been approved for use by Fife Council educators. Internet access is safeguarded using online filtering, both in school and when accessed on home networks.

The resources and links below will support learners and parents/carers with safety and wellbeing.

Parents/Carers can download the JAMF Parent app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and use the app to manage a learner device when at home. Read our guide demonstrating how to do this.

Advice on talking to your child about online safety

For many of us, we see our online lives and offline lives as different, but children are growing up with technology and the internet. For them there is no difference; online life and offline life is just life.

Technology can move at an extraordinarily fast pace and it can be difficult to know how to start talking to your child about what they’re doing online, who they might be speaking to or discussing the potential risks and issues.

Understanding screen time

Screen time is a common concern for learners and parents/carers.

The value and impact of time spent on a device are highly dependent on the context and purpose.

To support managing screen time at home, have open conversations about digital life and use resources from Internet Matters and their Balancing Screen Time Guide to support conversations.
