About Us

Our School

St. Patrick’s RC Primary School is situated in the town of Lochgelly, Fife and was opened in 1903 and is built in stone to a traditional design. The main building comprises a multi-purpose hall with access to six classrooms and dining facilities. Upstairs, we have another classroom and the Senior Leadership Team Learning Base. The school is accessed via the main entrance where the school office is situated. A separate PE block contains our P7 classroom, a gym hall and changing rooms. This is also utilised for assemblies and any events where we invite parents.

We are part of the St. Andrew’s RC High School cluster where many of our Primary 7 pupils transition to. We also have children who transition to our local secondary school, Lochgelly High School. We do not have a nursery but work in partnership with Lochgelly Sunflower Nursery and Family Nurture Centre to provide a positive transition from N5 to Primary 1.

Our school values are Ready, Respect, Safe & Love and we strive to achieve attainment and equity for all. As a Roman Catholic school, we work in partnership with our parish and parents to create a community where faith and respect for others is shared. This is supported by the Charter for Catholic Schools in Scotland and the Gospel values.

Our staff are fully committed to providing high standards of learning and teaching and our high expectations mean we always strive for the best possible outcomes for children. We are proud of our children and believe we provide a nurturing environment where home, school and the parish work together to encourage children to be the best they can be and demonstrate the “St. Patrick’s Way”.

We have a very active Parent Council and the wider school community are also engaged in supporting the school to provide opportunities where children are excited about learning. Our curriculum is focused on enabling our children to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
