About Us

Our School Context

St Patrick’s RC Primary is a happy school, where children are treated with dignity and respect and where Gospel Values are at the heart of our school family.  Every child in St. Patrick’s is very important to us. We teach the children respect for self, for others and for our environment and our planet.  We reinforce these teachings by promoting the Gospel Values of wisdom, justice, compassion and integrity and through close working with St Patrick’s Catholic Church. The Charter for Catholic Schools outlines the guiding principles of our mission here at St Patrick’s.  Click on the charter to the right for more detail.

There are 8 classes this year with wide ranging ability and support  needs in each class.  We have two probationer teachers.

St Patrick’s is in the village of Lochgelly and is one of the feeder primary schools for St Andrew’s High School in Kirkcaldy.  Most of our pupils move on to St Andrew’s, however there are a few children who move on to other secondary schools.

Our curriculum is focused on enabling our children to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. Over a number of years we have tried hard to ensure that learning experiences are not confined to classrooms.  Outdoor learning is something that all teachers embrace and plan for.  We have good outdoor space and these areas are used well by all children, we also feel that the local area is a very rich resource and we strive to make good use of our surrounding area. We have had recognition in the past both at cluster and authority level for its our outstanding approach to physical activity and physical education.  St Patrick’s currently had around 62% of its children involved in sporting activity out with the normal school day through early morning, lunchtime and after school clubs ranging from football, running, basketball and more.

We updated our core values with help from our learners. These are – Ready, Respect, Safe and Love.

Over the year we taken part in many local events and Fife Wide Competitions such as the Summer Reading Challenge run by the local libraries, the Big Book brain Quiz, Rotary Quiz, Fife Schools Cross Country Championship and various Football Competitions.
