Hello from P1\/2!<\/div>\n
We can’t believe it’s almost the end of the year! We have had such a wonderful year together.<\/div>\n
This term in literacy, we have been learning how to write narrative stories. We have been using some of our favourite stories, along with our imaginations, to create our own. If you hear about an enormous turnip\u2014don\u2019t ask!<\/div>\n
This is the first year we have implemented our new phonics and spelling programme, and it has been fantastic. The class have responded really well to the fast pace and clear structure of the sessions, and we have some fantastic budding readers and spellers across P1 and P2.<\/div>\n
In maths, we have been revising time, strengthening our core addition and subtraction skills, and learning lots about money. We have especially enjoyed adding using coins\u2014even though we don\u2019t see them as much these days! They have been brilliant for fine-tuning our mental maths skills.<\/div>\n
Our topic has been very exciting as we explored planting and the weather. Thank you so much for sending in your sunflower photos\u2014they are amazing, and we will be announcing a winner next week! We have grown our own plants and planted flowers in the front reception planters. We have also grown cress to make egg and cress sandwiches and learned about pollination, the parts of plants, and what helps them grow. Keep an eye out for our video sharing our learning and craft gardens!<\/div>\n
We have also enjoyed our weekly Cool in School sessions, where we explore social stories and discuss how we would respond in different situations. It has been lovely to see the class grow, mature, and develop such strong friendships.<\/div>\n
One of the highlights of our term was our trip to Dundee Science Centre! We had an amazing day travelling on the bus, exploring all the different zones, and enjoying learning outside the classroom. Every pupil was so responsible and respectful. A big thank you to our helpers who came along with us.<\/div>\n
I am so proud of P1\/2 and hope they all have an amazing summer when it comes!<\/div>\n

March 26<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

P1\/2 have had a fab term!<\/b>\u00a0We have been working so hard on our phonics and spelling patterns \u2014 you can ask P2 about\u00a0magic e<\/i>! We have also been writing personal recounts and story recounts, such as\u00a0Toys in Space<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Old Bear<\/i>\u00a0(stories we have loved reading this term!).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In maths, we have been learning about number bonds, multiplication and division, data handling, and time. In IDL, we have explored toys from the past and compared them to the toys we have today. Our favourite parts have been learning about forces and electricity \u2014 we even made our own electrical circuits!<\/div>\n

In gym, we have been creating gymnastics sequences; you can see our performances on Seesaw.<\/div>\n

Our art exploration has focused on texture and line. Do you like our flowers and creation artwork?<\/div>\n

We love our visits to the library with Mrs Reid and also enjoyed having families in school to explore our Read, Write, Count bags together. World Book Day was a real hit \u2014 we enjoyed a whole\u2011school book study and came to school dressed as book characters!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We have had a fantastic term filled with lots of learning, bucket filling, and nativity fun!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In maths, our P1s have been exploring counting, number recognition and formation, as well as some basic addition skills. P2 have been learning new addition and subtraction strategies alongside lots of number structure concepts. We especially enjoy our daily number discussions, songs, and Fab Four questions!<\/div>\n

In literacy, P1 have been learning how to form letters and even read and write some basic words. P2 have been spelling longer words while developing their handwriting skills. We have all been learning to write descriptions and have linked these to our favourite stories\u2014The Gruffalo<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0The Jolly Postman<\/i>, to name a few!<\/div>\n

We had an exciting trip to the local post office to hand in our stamp designs\u2014you can see them on display! We learned about all the busy workings of a post office thanks to Heather!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

You will all know by now that we are budding actors and actresses after our nativity performance! We have been learning to speak with expression and confidence in front of an audience. We have also learned lots of musical skills and think we can hold a tune not too badly! We hope you enjoyed our Christmas show as much as we loved preparing it. It was very special to think about our own village of Kelty and all our favourite parts about living here in our\u00a012 Days of Kelty<\/i>\u00a0performance.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Hello from P1\/2! We have had a brilliant first term so far! It has been a joy to welcome our new P1’s, our P2’s have been the best buddies for them alongside the primary 7’s! We have enjoyed reading, singing and playing together!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We began our year by exploring the book ‘How to Fill a Bucket.’ It taught us all about being kind and how to be a good friend.\u00a0 Our class bears have been watching us filling up each others buckets and have been going on amazing adventures with our pupils at the weekends!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In numeracy, P1 have been exploring counting, number formation and recognition. We are getting used to joining in with class jobs and love our number song time! P2 have been exploring place value, number ordering and structure. We’ve been working very hard and especially loved our maths walk during maths week! We went on a hunt for numbers around the village and found loads!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In literacy, we have begun a new phonics scheme across p1 and p2 which has been super exciting! P1 have been learning their initial sounds and P2 have been learning to spell longer words and have been working hard on their handwriting. We have loved our library visits with Mrs Reid and have got to choose our own book every fortnight to borrow.<\/div>\n

Alongside all of this hard work we explored the artist Matisee at the beginning of term. We have been learning different artistic skills. Now we are exploring houses and homes and have been creating houses, comparing them, and using the Three Little Pigs story to link it with our literacy!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
All in all its been a very busy and enjoyable term- we will see you in term 2… but we won’t mention the C word just yet!<\/div>\n
