The last order time for food is 8.40am, no food will be issued after this time as cleaning will begin. Children can go outside to the playground at 8.50am or before to play unsupervised, as would be the case for other children who may arrive at school early. It is important to note that the Breakfast Café is not childcare. This means that the staff involved serve food to the children, they are not responsible for looking after the children during this breakfast time. Any cases of unacceptable behaviour by the children, whilst at Breakfast Café or in the playground after, will not be tolerated, and may result in your child being excluded from this service. Parents/Carers are very welcome to attend with your child/ren.

Attendance

Can you please make sure your child is prompt for the start of school, we are having an increasing number of children arriving late to class, which has a knock-on effect on your child and the children and teacher in the class.

Absence

If your child is absent from nursery or school, can you please ensure you contact the school

by 9.30am either by email, text or telephone. Children can still pre-order in school with their teacher in the morning, however some children are not liking what is available. This helps with the smooth running of the ordering process in the morning and avoids unnecessary upset and phone calls home.

Healthy Snacks

As a Health Promoting School please support us by giving your child/ren a healthy snack/lunch option. Sometimes children can come to school with inappropriate/sugary items for snack and also before school. Can we please ask that you have a conversation with your child/ren to make sure they are not purchasing these at the shop, without parental knowledge, before school. By doing this it will help with your child’s concentration level throughout the school day. No large bags of crisps, packets of biscuits, bars of chocolate, sugary sweets should be brough for snack, these types of items will be removed from children to be returned at the end of the day. Fruit can be offered as a substitute if snack is inappropriate or has been forgotten. Please note we no longer have a school tuck shop.

Indoor Shoes

Please can you ensure that your child/ren have a change of indoor shoes. Increasingly children are not wearing appropriate footwear e.g. boots/wellies within the classroom.

Water Bottles

Can you please make sure that your child brings a water bottle to school every day. They will have opportunities to refill them as required throughout the day. Unless you have an arrangement due to medical reasons with the school, water bottles should only contain water.

Rag Bag Donations

Our textile recycling bin in school raised £165.20 so far this session. Thank you for all your clothing donations.

Traffic
A reminder: Can we please ask all parents/carers to park away from the school and walk their children to school, this will avoid traffic congestion and any potential accidents from occurring. There have been several concerns raised by both residents and parents regarding the amount of traffic around the school at both drop off and pick up times. Please can we ask parents to avoid parking at Tarvit Terrace as it is becoming heavily congested and therefore unsafe.

Head lice

Can you please remember to check your child/ren’s head regularly for head lice. If there is evidence of head lice, it is important to start treatment as soon as possible. Children with head lice infection should continue to attend school or nursery as long as treatment has started. To help prevent re-occurrence it is advised that children with long hair have it tied back

PE & Outdoor learning days

Children can wear their PE/Outdoor learning clothing to school on the below days. Can we ask that PE clothes match the school uniform colours.

P1-2 = PE Tuesday and Wednesday

P3-5 = PE Tuesday and Thursday

P6-7 = PE Monday and Thursday

Bikes and scooters in the playground

Children have been asked to put their scooters and bikes into the bike cage in the morning (bike shed key is available from the school office) children are not permitted to ride scooters and bikes in the playground before or after school – they have been asked to walk them out of the playground for safety. Please can children be reminded of the importance of wearing a helmet.

Seesaw use

Seesaw is continuing to be used and works really well and is enjoyed by teachers, parents and the children. This is a great way to share and record learning as it happens in the classroom. This resource is used to involve families in your child/ren’s learning and as such can we ask that all related chats are learning based. If you have any other queries or concerns please direct these to the school office 01334 659438 or by email on springfieldfieldps.enquiries@fife.gov.uk and these will be passed onto the nursery staff, class teacher or Miss Rennie.

Important Uniform Reminder

We are delighted to see so many smart pupils, in school uniform colours.
