Our curriculum is intentionally designed to ensure that every young person develops the skills, attributes, and capabilities needed to progress within the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence. These capacities—Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens, and Effective Contributors—provide the essential framework for shaping meaningful learning experiences for all learners.

To support this, our families, staff, and partners have collaboratively identified the key attributes and capabilities they believe are central to the success and wellbeing of our learners. These shared priorities inform the development of our curriculum and guide our approach to learning, teaching, and assessment across all stages.

Family‑Driven Personalisation and Curriculum Design

As part of our education review process, each family is invited to highlight the attributes and skills that are particularly important for their child, taking account of individual needs, aspirations, and circumstances. These personalised insights directly influence the desired outcomes within our wider achievement pathways, ensuring that each learner’s curriculum is both meaningful and contextually relevant.

This collaborative approach reflects our commitment to genuine partnership working and reinforces the principle that families play a central role in shaping their child’s learning journey.

Evidence of Progress and Reporting

Progress in these agreed attributes and capabilities is systematically gathered throughout the year and forms a key element of each learner’s annual report. This approach ensures that:

progress is tracked in a personalised, meaningful, and holistic manner

small-step and significant achievements are recognised and celebrated

learners, families, and staff have a shared understanding of growth over time

reporting reflects the complexity and individuality of each learner’s pathway

By embedding this model within our curriculum, we ensure that every learner’s achievements are valued and that their development across the four capacities is clearly evidenced and communicated.

Click on the below link to see our school document.

4 Capacities- Education Review Updated March 24

The curriculum is then delivered through the 4 contexts for learning:

ethos and life of the school as a community,

curriculum areas and subjects,

interdisciplinary learning

opportunities for personal achievement.

Opportunities for personal achievement

Almost all learners at Rosslyn are transported in/out of school on buses.
