Parent Forum is led by the Headteacher, and the agenda is primarily school updates, developments, and school improvements. Friends of Rosslyn is Parent\/Family led and is a network for supporting families and the school.<\/p>\n<p>What is the Parent Forum?<\/p>\n<p>The 2006 Parental Involvement Act states that every school in Scotland has a Parent Forum which consists of all the parents\/carers who have a child at the school. They are automatically members, and do not need to apply or be officially invited onto this group.<\/p>\n<p>The Parent Forum can expect to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>receive information about the school<\/li>\n<li>identify issues<\/li>\n<li>be consulted<\/li>\n<li>express views<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main aim of the Parent Forum is to help the school operate as a successful school and to try to represent all parents\/carers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve links between all parents and the school<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that parents get the information they need in an accessible way and that the school staff get feedback on parents\u2019 views.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss any issue that\u2019s of interest to parents, including school policies on such things as nurture, sexual health and relationships education, and school uniform.<\/li>\n<li>Work jointly with the school to set up extra-curricular activities and after-school clubs.<\/li>\n<li>As part of Curriculum for Excellence, parental involvement in their children\u2019s learning is recognised as very important<\/li>\n<li>Represent parents\u2019 views to the education authority and others on those issues that are of concern to parents, pupils, and staff with an awareness of equality and fairness.<\/li>\n<li>Involvement in the recruitment of new Headteachers and\/or senior staff.<\/li>\n<li>Important consultation role during and after a school inspection.<\/li>\n<li>Take on those social and fundraising activities.<\/li>\n<li>The majority of Parent Forum members must be parents of children at the school.<\/li>\n<li>The definition of \u201cparent\u201d is very wide and includes everyone with a parenting role with regards to a pupil; this could include foster parents, family members who have care of a child and divorced\/separated couples.<\/li>\n<li>The Parent Forum should promote equality and fairness in their activities and recognise the diversity in the school community.<\/li>\n<li>The Headteacher has a duty to attend all Parent Forum meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Friends of Rosslyn have a constitution and AGM annually to elect the committee members.<\/p>\n<p>Chair &#8211; Sharon Veelenturf<\/p>\n<p>Secretary &#8211; Julie Paisley<\/p>\n<p>Treasurer &#8211; Sandra Galloway<\/p>\n<p>Committee Members &#8211; Liz Wiscombe and Daiva Mustasvili<\/p>\n<p>Minutes of all meetings are shared via the School Parent App.<\/p>\n<p>All families are welcome to join meetings at any time.
