Little Ducklings, Puffins and Robins

We have been promoting independence and celebrating our achievements. This began with the children going outside this morning and being encouraged to identify their own names on their coats and put them on independently. Some children required some help with this and all needed support to do the zips on the jackets.

When coming back indoors we encouraged the children to remove their jackets independently. I was able to do this with no support and even put his jacket back into the drawer without being asked or prompted to by a lady. šŸ‘ J was wanting a lady to take her coat off for her but we all encouraged her to try to do it herself. Initially she was very opposed to this idea and kept saying, “I canni” and she was getting a little frustrated. However, we continued to offer words of encouragement and some ideas that she could try. J pulled her arm out one sleeves then realised she could do the rest, she pulled her jacket off and waved it in the air, “I did it! I didni Ken I could dae that!” J said this with a massive smile on her face, great achievement JšŸ™‚

A also discovered today that with a little patience and perseverance he can take off his shoes and then put them back on without any support from the ladies, great job A šŸ‘.

The craft and writing tables have been very busy recently. At some point all children either made a picture using the glue, glitter and various materials or sat at the writing table to mark make and draw. Lots of positive communication between the children.

In the gardens we played ring o roses, hide and seek and tag. All children were inclusive and took turns at doing the different things. J, A, N and M all said they were “freezinin” so they went back indoors. We will continue to encourage self help skills and independence in nursery, can you do any at home?
