Term 2

Our class novel this term is “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Colins. Through this novel study we will be learning about figurative language and symbolism as our reading comprehension, using commas and dashes for parenthesis in grammar and learning lots of new and ambitious vocabulary. You can view our vocabulary words each week on our blog.

Our writing is linked to our project on China and our work on world religions in RME. Through exploring Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folklore stories we will write our own stories in the styles of these religions, exploring themes and morals.

Term 1

Our literacy work is focused around our class novel “Holes” by Louis Sachar. We will be using this as a stimulus for exploring themes, setting and character motivations for comprehension. We will also be learning the literary technique of sub-plots and in imaginative writing.
