What a busy and exciting week we\u2019ve had in Primary 6!<\/p>\n
In writing, we learned how to write persuasive letters and sent them to our head teacher, Miss Donaldson. Some of us tried to convince her to have shorter school weeks, others wanted playground book clubs or more sports clubs, we\u2019re hoping she agrees with some of our ideas!<\/p>\n
In our World War II topic, we learned about the outbreak of war in 1939 and listened to Neville Chamberlain\u2019s famous speech announcing it. We analysed his words carefully, looking at how he tried to persuade the nation, then used stippling art to create 1930s-style radios decorated with powerful statements from the speech.<\/p>\n
In maths, we worked on equivalent fractions and used centimetres and millimetres to measure accurately. We also practised converting between the two, which helped us develop our precision and problem-solving skills.<\/p>\n
During health and wellbeing, we discussed our emotions throughout the day and created a bright, colourful emotions graffiti board to show how our feelings can change. We also started exploring our fitness goals and began fitness circuits to build strength and stamina.<\/p>\n
In reading, we started our new class novel, Goodnight Mister Tom<\/em>. We read the first chapter and shared our first impressions of Willie and Mr Tom, we can\u2019t wait to see how their friendship develops!<\/p>\n Finally, in grammar, we focused on pronouns, learning how to use them correctly to make our writing flow more smoothly.<\/p>\n It\u2019s been a jam packed week full of learning, creativity, and reflection.
