One of our main tasks was the Scottish Premier League Budget Challenge. Using real-life data, we worked out the costs of travelling to matches, tickets, accommodation and more. It was a fun way to apply our numeracy skills to real-world situations—and who knew football could involve so many numbers?

We’ve also been exploring data handling, creating bar charts and pie charts using stats from the Scottish Premier League, including information such as the top goal scorers. This helped us understand how to represent data visually while comparing players’ performance—lots of great discussion and analysis!

In literacy, we’ve been diving into more grammar, reminding ourselves how to use quotation marks accurately in our writing. We practised adding dialogue to comic strips and identifying speech in texts. We also continued developing our spelling skills through more Pointillism Spelling, using pencil dots to reinforce the shape of each letter. We also completed dictionary tasks that had us using our words in creative but appropriate contexts.

We also created a personification poem for our upcoming Harvest Service, giving human-like qualities to pumpkins, leaves and autumn itself. The results were imaginative, moving and some were even quite funny—P6 poets certainly have a way with words!

Speaking of creativity, we’ve been busy in art too! We used oil pastels to create striking pumpkin pieces, focusing on line and blending techniques. These will form part of our Harvest Service display and really show off our developing artistic skills.

In PE, we’ve continued building our netball skills, practising pivoting and passing with increasing control and accuracy. In drama, we used dance and freestyle movement to respond to emotion-based prompts, exploring how we can express feelings and stories through movement. There were some fantastic interpretations and confident performances!

As part of RME, we continued looking at the theme of Peace, learning about influential people who have worked to promote peace around the world. Their actions inspired us to think about the qualities of a peacemaker and how we can show those in our own lives.

It’s been another packed and purposeful week in P6. We’re proud of our efforts, our progress and how we’re continuing to support and challenge one another. Well done, everyone!

By Ada and Miss Cook

Another Brilliant Week in P6!
