What another fantastic week in P6!

In literacy, we’ve been working hard on our football-themed imaginative stories. After lots of planning, drafting and editing, we created our final drafts—full of emotion, action and amazing descriptive language. We also worked on our expression during reading, making sure our voices reflect the mood and meaning of the text.

We deepened our understanding of peace in RME. We explored how different religions promote peace and linked this learning to our ongoing work on sectarianism and our class novel Divided City. These important conversations helped us think critically about how division can impact communities — and how peace, respect and understanding can help bring people together. Using Book Creator, we began designing our very own books about peace. These digital stories allowed us to express what peace means to us.

Another creative highlight was writing our own song lyrics to promote kindness and a growth mindset, in response to learning about bullying. We used rhyme, rhythm and strong messages to help remind others how important it is to lift each other up.

In spelling, we had fun with speed spelling—racing to write our words as quickly, clearly and accurately as we could! We also visited early Christmas creativity by designing beautiful card illustrations, which we’re excited to send off and have turned into real cards!

In French, we used our growing vocabulary to research famous French people and created fact files using key language around professions and identities. We even practised addition using French numbers, which helped combine our language and numeracy skills!

Numeracy this week focused on multiplication and word problems, where we built on our place value knowledge to help us understand the patterns and strategies for larger calculations.

In PE, we brought together all the football skills we’ve been practising over the term—dribbling, passing, ball control and positioning. We put these to the test in matches that really showed our progress, teamwork and communication.

We also had our Glasgow Landmark presentations! Working in pairs, we shared our research and used clear voices, expression and confidence to teach each other about key places in Glasgow in connection to our class novel. It was great to see all the hard work come together.

It’s been a week packed with teamwork, creativity and meaningful learning. We’re so proud of all the thinking and effort from P6—let’s keep it going into next week!
