Week Beginning 6/11/23


Happy Thursday!

We have had a great week in P1/2.
We have Miss Latif working with us for 4 weeks.

PE- We are enjoying doing different exercises to music. It is fun working with a partner.
We enjoyed taking part in the mile .

Art- We painted very cool penguins. They look great in our classroom .

Drama – We role played being different Artic animals .

Literacy – We had to write instructions on how to clean our teeth.
We all enjoyed our reading books .
P1 – Have been working on blending 3 letter words .
P2 – Have been working on their spelling words. They loved writing them in the playground with chalk.

Numeracy – We all enjoyed playing Sum Dog.
We have been identifying coins to Β£2.
We have been using coins to make different amounts . We have been planning a class toy shop .

We have been learning about Diwali – the festival of light. We made paper plate Diva lamps . They look wonderful .

Outdoor Learning – We made Rangoli patterns with chalk and filled them with natural materials .

Topic- We learned about different Artic animals and their babies. We had a matching job to do.

Week Beginning 30/10/23


Happy Friday!

We have had a fun and hard working week in P1/2.
We have enjoyed lots of Halloween activities. We loved listening to Halloween stories. Our favourite was Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper. We loved making pumpkin soup and then writing instructions on how we made the soup. Some of us thought it tasted delicious πŸ™‚

PE- We have been working on our fitness by doing different exercises to music. This was lots of fun. We enjoyed taking part in the mile with the whole school.

We took part in a nature scavenger hunt and planted a very special plant to look after as part of our Green Flag day celebrations.

Miss Allan worked with us on Wednesday.

Numeracy- We enjoyed having time playing Sum Dog. We also have been working on our numbers to 10/20/100 and 1000.

Literacy- We all enjoyed our reading books this week. We have been working hard on our key words.
P1 have been working on blending 2 and 3 letter words.
P2 have been working on their spelling words.

We discussed ways to keep safe on Bonfire Night. We made safety posters .
We also printed some fantastic firework pictures .

Week Beginning 23/10/2023



Happy Friday!
We have had another great week in P1/2.

Literacy- We loved making jam sandwiches. We then had the task of writing instructions. We used key words like First, Next, Then and Finally.
P1 sequenced pictures.
We all enjoyed our reading books. We have been practising our key words.
P1 have been practising blending 2/3 letter words.
P2 have been practising their spelling words .

Numeracy – we have been working hard on our numbers to 10/20/100 and 1000 learning. We loved playing Sum dog.

Topic- Our new topic is β€˜The Polar Lands β€˜.
We found them on a map. It is very very cold there !
Art- We made very cool polar bear pictures . They look great in our classroom.

We loved doing the daily mile with the whole school.

We enjoyed celebrating green flag day. We have a very special plant to plant next week and look after.

PE- We loved trying out different exercises to music ! This was so much fun!

Week Beginning 2/10/2023


Happy Friday!

We have had a great week in P1/2.
We have enjoyed practising for our school Harvest Assembly. I hope you liked our special song- I am a Little Hedgehog’.

Primary 1 have been working hard on their new sounds- w, v, y and x.
P2 did a little bit of farm writing. They had to write what they saw in each farm picture. They remembered capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
We loved reading a story called ‘Josh’s Shop’ with a partner. We then sequenced the story.

Shape- We worked together in small groups to build a model using 2D and 3D shapes. We made castles and houses. We had to count each of the shapes we used and name them. We also counted the edges and vertices.

Art- We made clay hedgehogs. They look great and we are excited to bring them home.

Topic- We loved making our shoe box farms. This was a messy but very fun job πŸ™‚

We have been working on our Learning Logs- These special folders will come home on the first Monday back after the holidays. We can’t wait to share them with you.

Wee Beginning 25/9/2023

Happy Friday!

It has been a very different week this week. I am so proud of all your home learning! Well-done everyone πŸ™‚

We enjoyed sharing some of our learning during together time.

We have started to make a special Christmas card. Watch out for information about this coming home so that you can buy our designs.

PE- We enjoyed playing some playground games. We also enjoyed walking/running our mile.

Loose parts- We loved exploring the loose parts. We made machinery that could be used on the farm. Great team work shown by all.

P1 have been working hard on learning their new sounds.
P2 have been working hard on their new spelling words. They practised their words using the skills of rainbow writing.

We all enjoyed working on our Committee activities on Friday.

Week beginning 18/9/2023

Happy Friday!

We have had another great week in Primary1/2.

We were all so excited to share our assembly with you all. Thank you for your lovely feedback.

PE-We loved our yoga sessions this week. We were practising different individual and pair poses.
We enjoyed running/walking the mile.

Committees- We all enjoyed working in our different committees. Lots of exciting learning happening. We like working with other children from different classes.

Topic- We were learning about the different parts of a tractor. We loved looking at Tom’s tractor to investigate each part.

Literacy- Primary 2 had spelling words to practise. We had to write a sentence, draw a picture and hide our words in our picture for Mrs Carmichael to find.
Writing was imaginative this week. We had to create a character and write lots of describing words about them.
Primary 1 were learning their new sounds- Gg, Oo, Uu and Ll. We made a gorilla, an octopus, an umbrella and a lion.
Primary 1 did a detailed drawing of being happy and thinking about what makes them happy. Mrs Carmichael scribed a sentence for us to overwrite.
Everyone enjoyed reading their reading books this week.
Primary 1 loved sharing a story with their Primary 7 Buddies.

Outdoor learning-
We had fun using natural material’s to explore symmetry.

Maths/Numeracy- We worked hard on our numbers to 10/20/100 and 1000.
We have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We enjoyed making them and discussing edges, vertices and faces.

Week Beginning 11/9/23

Happy Friday!

We had a lovely time at the library celebrating ‘Roald Dahl’ day. We loved listening to part of ‘The Twits’ and ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. We made party hats and had to find 5 hidden golden tickets. We are so thankful to Pauline at the library for organising our activities.

Outdoor Learning- We sorted natural materials into categories. Materials that were the same/different colours, the same/different sizes.

Shape- We were working with 2D and 3D shapes. We made very cool models. We have been discussing sides, corners and faces.
Number- We have been working hard on our numbers to 10/20/100 and 500.

Literacy- Primary 1 were learning new sounds- Hh, Rr, Mm and Dd. They made hearts, rainbows, monkeys and dinosaurs.
Primary 1 are very excited about bringing their reading books home. They loved the story about Kipper and his Dad going for a haircut.
Primary 2 have been working hard on their key words and all enjoyed their reading books.
Primary 2 did some writing about farm animals. They had to remember to use describing words. We will be sharing our writing at our special assembly on Monday.

We have been preparing for our assembly on Monday. We made very cool cow headbands to wear.
We have been singing Old MacDonald had a farm and using instruments to accompany our song.

Primary 1 loved sharing a story with their Primary 7 Buddy. They are excited to bring it home to share with you.
Primary 2 have picked a book to bring home to share.

PE-We played lots of fun games.

Pupil Committees- We are all part of a committee. We loved working with children from all classes.
Health, Eco, Rights Respecting, and Enterprise.

We made posters for our class stall at the summer fair- Hook the Duck.

Week Beginning 4/9/23

Happy Friday!

We have had a great week in P1/2:)

We loved making apple juice this week. We collected apples, washed them, pressed them and tasted the delicious apple juice.
We are very thankful to Mr Colville for his help.

Miss Allan was working with us on Wednesday. We loved music time.

We made bug hotels during outdoor learning time. We were working together as a team.

We read a story β€˜The girl who never made mistakes’. We had a discussion about how it is ok to make mistakes and lots of learning can happen if we make a mistake.

We enjoyed running/walking the mile. In PE we have enjoyed playing different games. Our favourite this week was dodgeball.

Art- We made fantastic handprint chickens.

Topic- We were learning about male, female and baby farm animals.

Literacy- P1 were working on their sounds – p, n , c k and e. Singing songs and playing different games are helping us remember them.
We also enjoyed stories about Kipper, Biff, Chip and Floppy.
P2- We enjoyed our reading books. We were working on our spelling words. We had to rainbow write our words and write sentences with our spelling words in them.

Numeracy/Maths- We have been working hard on our numbers to 10/20/100.
We have also been exploring 2D and 3D shapes.

Week Beginning 28/8/2023

Happy Friday!

We have had another hardworking week in P1/2.

We enjoyed listening to the story ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds. We discussed times when we thought we couldn’t do something and ways in which we overcome this. We also discussed ways to help others. We drew a black dot and created fantastic pictures.

We have been enjoying learning about different animals we may find on the farm.
We drew our own farm animals and labelled them.

P1 enjoyed spending time with their P7 Buddies being creative with loose parts.

We loved running/walking the mile with the whole school on Thursday. This was fun!
We have enjoyed playing different games in PE.

P1 have been working hard on learning their new sounds- s, a, t and i. They love singing the songs.
P2 had to pick a character from our book of the week ‘The Scarecrows Wedding’. They had to draw a detailed picture and then write sentences to describe them.

Maths- We have been learning about 2D and 3D shape. We enjoyed exploring with them.
We have also been working on numbers to 10/20/100.

Week Beginning 21/8/2023

Happy Friday!

We have had a great week in P1/2.

Outdoor learning- We collected natural materials and used them to create our own pieces of art work. They all looked amazing.

Numeracy- We have been working hard on our numbers to 10/20/100. We have been working on our number formations too.

Literacy- We have been learning about adjectives. (P2) We loved listening to the story ‘Gigantosaurus’ by Jonny Duddle. We drew our own dinosaurs and had to think about lots of adjectives to describe them.
We have been working on our key reading words.

P1-We had to sequence the nursey rhyme ‘Humpty Dumpty’.
We also drew a lovely picture of our families.

PE-We enjoyed playing different playground games. We have also been enjoying running/walking the daily mile.

Art- We used corks to print pigs. They look great on our classroom wall.

Topic- On the farm. We discussed what we knew about farms and what we wanted to learn about farms.

Health- We created our class charter and had a think about the well being indicators. We made little figures of ourselves for our classroom.
