Hello everyone,\u00a0 welcome back to Nursey., We hope that you all had\u00a0 a lovely Easter break. Here is a\u00a0 quick look at what we have been up to in nursery this week…..<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This week learning is\u2026 creativity, motor skills, team work, communication, balancing skills, hand\/eye coordination, numeracy, literacy, self confidence, exploring, predicting, being curious, sharing, self-esteem, technology, outdoor learning and problem solving.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Lots of interest in exploring and discovering new learning in a range of topics linked to lifecycles, such as from plants, insects and frogs, to trees and human beings. This has been researched through a range of different sources such as books, computers and iPads, along with a range of activities and experiences through the nursery.<\/p>\n

Outside, a group of children took part in a planting experience where they planted some vegetables in a see through container so we could watch them grow and observe the length of the roots over time \ud83c\udf31 The children took turns to put soil into the container whilst we discussed the growing process. The children were able to identify living and non living things. We said that plants and trees were living things and so were bunny rabbits and then said that the table, a jug and a spoon were not living things. The children shared that a living thing meant \u201cit grows and needs water and food\u201d and the table couldn\u2019t be a living thing because \u201cit doesn\u2019t grow\u201d \ud83c\udf33This is what some children shared with us…..<\/p>\n

\u201cthe carrots should go in the middle because they have more room\u201d \ud83e\udd55<\/p>\n

\u201ctrees are living things and the sap is their blood\u201d Joni \u201cwe need to grow too\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cdragon fruit grows in different countries, Spain, America\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cthat\u2019s how many centimetres they will grow there\u2019s a measure\u201d<\/p>\n

On Wednesday the children continued to explore and develop their learning of plants and flowers by planting sunflower seeds for the first time at nursery. They sparked discussions about the life cycle of a plant and what a plant requires to grow. The children confidently shared their knowledge with others on the basic needs of a plant.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need water and sunlight to make the flower grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they don\u2019t get water they will die.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know a sunflower grows big, bigger than me.\u201d<\/p>\n

“We did some research using the iPad and discovered a sunflower grows up to 4.5m.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they grow we could use a measuring tape to see how big they are.\u201d<\/p>\n

,Yesterday the children enjoyed creating a hungry caterpillar using and following a set of instructions. and to collect the correct amount of items they needed to create. They talked about the questions asked, some were able to recognise the question mark symbol too. They used skills to thread the paper and skills to create a small paper chain, adding the facial features at the end. Throughout all the children supported each other and engaged in dialogue throughout, giving praise at the end for each others achievements.<\/p>\n

We have also been observing the children using a range of loose parts in their imaginative play that help them make sense of their world.\u00a0 One child was seen being very busy with the large tyres,<\/p>\n

. \u201cI\u2019m being just like my daddy. I\u2019m fixing the tyres on the bus.\u201d<\/p>\n

He shared why a tyre is needed for the bus and that it helps the bus move.<\/p>\n

Another child was seen using a large cardboard box in his play recreating his favourite storybook character Paddington going off to Peru. Whilst others choose to decorate theirs , sharing their ideas in using a range of colours, shapes and patterns.<\/p>\n

Inside the children have been developing their own learning of symmetry through using a range of different experiences. Some have been enjoying sharing there skills to use the mouse to create symmetrical images that incorporate a range of shapes and other creative ideas. This then lead to the children exploring other mathematical games that incorporated a Geo board that promoted their developing\u00a0 hand and eye co-ordination skills . Others games and creative activities have been occuring naturally throughout the week. inside or outside. Here are a few snaps shots of the childrens fun.<\/p>\n
